NETWORK VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT 2
Network Acronym: PECNO
Title: Perfect Crystal Neutron Optics
Contract Number: ERB-FMRX-CT96-0057
Job Description: Development and optimisation of Perfect Crystal Interferometers for neutrons. Optimisation includes check with X-rays, reducing geometrical tolerances, and eliminating thermal and vibrational disturbances for maximum fringe contrast. The ultimate aim is to establish phase-contrast microtomography for neutrons.
Scientific Discipline: PHY - Perfect crystal optics for X-rays and neutrons; X-ray and neutron diffraction
Duration and Start Date: PostDoc position for 12 months; start date 1999-05-01
Place of Work: University of Dortmund, Institute of Physics. (employing institution)
Most of the work has to  be performed at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig, where interferometers will be manufactured and tested.
Additional work is done at Dortmund. Testing with neutrons is performed at the Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble.

NETWORK VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT 3
Network Acronym: PECNO
Title: Perfect Crystal Neutron Optics
Contract Number: ERB-FMRX-CT96-0057
Job Description:
1 PostDoc position available. The objective of the project is mainly related to further development of the double crystal diffractometer (DCD) for high resolution small angle neutron scattering (SANS) at the Jülich research reactor FRJ2. This development is expected from investigations of the so-called channel cut perfect Silicon single crystals, with the aim to optimize the neutron intensity and the inherent background conditions. Simultaneously, studies of µm large structures in artificial lattices and in soft condensed matter should be performed at the DCD. These experiments should be complemented with corresponding investigations at the pin hole SANS diffractometer KWS1 at our facility.
Candidates should have finished their thesis work in physics, have to come from an European Union country outside Germany, and should be interested in experimental work.
Scientific Discipline: PHY
Duration and Start Date: available from now on until December 31, 2000.
Place of Work: Forschungszentrum Jülich,
Institut für Festkörperforschung - Neutron Scattering Group
