New 6 - beam MOT

Starting out as a students training project, our new 6-beam apparatus featuring a glass cell for optimized optical access is now up and running. Within this project students learned to set up the relevant optics and fields for trapping and cooling of neutral atoms. The ones infected with the "cold atom" virus joined our group to start their diploma work. The 6-beam MOT apparatus will now be further developed into a fully functional AtomChip experiment focussing on the study of atom-surface interactions.
